Dr. Leddy heading first-of-its-kind study of brain damage in NFL & NHL athletes

UBMD Ortho primary sports medicine physician, Dr. John Leddy from the UB Concussion Management Clinic, is working alongside Dr. Barry Willer (UB Professor of Psychiatry) to study brain damage in former NFL & NHL players. Former Sabres players, Andrew Peters and Danny Gare are among the 12 former athletes that will partake in the UB study.

With the focus of recent media attention and concern from people of all walks of life, concussion is very much top-of-mind in relation to football, hockey and other impact-collision sports. This study is the first of its kind to focus on former hockey and football players.
