Visiting Professor Robert B. Anderson, M.D. gives Wilson Lecture

4-25-13

UB Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine welcomed Robert B. Anderson, M.D. as the latest in a series of visiting professors for the Ralph & Mary Wilson Gift Lecture.

He is the Head Team Physician for the NFL Carolina Panthers, and is a Foot & Ankle Surgeon at the OrthoCarolina Foot & Ankle Institute, of which he is a founding member. He is the past president of the American Orthopaedics Foot & Ankle Society, and serves as a consultant to numerous collegiate and professional sports teams.

Dr. Anderson discussed case studies with UBOSM attending and resident physicians, followed by his presentations on “Athletic Injury to the Ankle Syndesmosis” and “Treatment of Chronic Achilles Tendonopathy”.

Today’s Ralph & Mary Wilson Gift Lecture was the seventh presentation given since the series began. The Ralph C. Wilson Foundation made a $1 million donation to UBOSM in September of 2011 to support research and education, particularly for the training of five orthopaedic residents and two sports medicine fellows who rotate through the department each year.

The generous donation was made by the Wilsons to honor the Buffalo Bills team physicians; UBOSM’s John Marzo, M.D. has served as the Medical Director and Head Team Physician for the Bills since 1991, and Les Bisson, M.D. has served as Assistant Team Physician and Orthopaedic Surgeon since 1995.
